How does OpenUp work?
OpenUp offers low-threshold access to psychological help via video sessions or chat. The sessions take 25 minutes.
We always start with a free introduction session to find out what’s going on and whether your request for help fits in with the services of OpenUp. If that’s the case, you can start talking to each other more often. If your question doesn’t fit with OpenUp’s services, we’ll be happy to discuss alternatives with you.
OpenUp also works with a number of employers and insurance companies. In the first meeting, your psychologist can tell you exactly what arrangements have been made and what you can expect.
What is the difference between OpenUp and regular psychological treatment?
OpenUp is not a replacement for regular psychological care. If the nature and intensity of your struggles are severe enough for an official diagnosis, we will refer you to regular health care.
What are the opening hours of OpenUp?
OpenUp is available Monday through Friday from 8:30am – 9pm and on Saturdays from 1pm – 9pm.
Closed on the following days:
- Monday, April 5 (Easter Monday)
- Tuesday 27 April (King’s Day)
- Thursday 13 May (Ascension)
- Monday 24 May (Pentecost)
How much does OpenUp cost?
Does your employer have a collaboration with OpenUp? Then the sessions are paid by your employer after the consultation. Ask the online psychologist how many consultations your employer pays.Are you a hospital employee and insured with an IZZ insurance at VGZ? Then the consultations are covered and you won’t pay a deductible.

How many online sessions can I book?
We work on the basis of strip cards of 3 sessions per card. The number of cards you can buy is in principle unlimited. During an introductory session, you and a psychologist examine whether a prepaid card is appropriate for your needs.
For my OpenUp session I’d prefer to call without video – is that possible?
Although a session is more effective with video, you are free to just do an audio session. Simply deactivate the camera in the video call.
I booked an OpenUp session, but now I can’t make the scheduled time. What can I do?
There are links to easily reschedule or cancel your session in the confirmation e-mail you received after booking the session.
Can I book a follow-up session with the same psychologist?
Absolutely. We’ll send you a link in the follow-up e-mail after your session.
OpenUp has been offered to me by my employer or health insurance – do they know if I book a session?
Do I need a referral letter from my GP?
No, you don’t need a referral letter for OpenUp.
